Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began studying marine sciences at the Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard's journey to professional success began in 1999, when she took a job on the vessel F/V Sunset. This 65 foot halibut boat was turned to a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn. The couple has been fishing commercially for over twenty years. Bossard who is married to Aritan and has joined their forces in order to claim their respective industries. Both of them are proponents of saving and maximizing the use of renewable resources in the seafood industry. In 2007, now a mother of two young children Bella aged 3 and Andre 1 Bossard then returning to living in Philadelphia, opened a direct market wholesale distributor of seafood called Otolith. Bossard along with her two children Andre 10, and Isabella 12 each year return to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. Then they continue to expand their direct seafood product sales through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
